Boom Racing's Muscle Winch™ is a dedicated, fully waterproof IP67 internal servo winch engineered from the ground up to deliver exceptional pulling power, speed, and reliability for serious scale RC vehicles. Powered by a high-performance brushless motor and precision full-metal gears, it delivers smooth, consistent operation and up to 40kg (555oz) of pulling force when operated on 3S LiPo.

Free Spool Unit

The Muscle Winch™ features an integrated dual-trigger free spool system for quick and convenient cable deployment.

The free spool can be activated in two ways:

  • Press the button on top of the winch
  • Pull the release knob on the bottom
This dual-trigger design allows the release mechanism to be accessed from either side of the winch, making installation much more flexible regardless of your chassis layout.

To release the line, press the top button or pull the bottom knob while pulling the cable outward. Once the desired length has been reached, release the button or knob and continue pulling gently until you hear a click. The locking mechanism will automatically re-engage and the winch is ready for use.

If preferred, the Muscle Winch™ can also be operated entirely through your radio without using the free spool mechanism.

Performance

Designed to operate on both 2S and 3S LiPo batteries, the Muscle Winch™ produces up to 40kg (555oz) of pulling force at 12.6V while delivering faster line speed than conventional internal servo winches. The combination of a brushless motor, billet aluminum case, hardened full-metal gears, and IP67 waterproof construction ensures exceptional durability and dependable performance in demanding trail conditions.

A scale metal winch hook and 2-meter high-strength nylon winch line are included and ready to install.

Installation

The Muscle Winch™ installs like a standard servo winch and requires only a spare receiver channel assigned to a three-position switch for winch in, stop, and winch out control.

An optional Servo Winch Mount Kit for BRX01 (#BRLC7200) is available.

Additional Notes: If the Winch does not properly work as intended, when using the following radio systems, some setup is known to work:

*To avoid damaging the Muscle Winch, remove the hook from the rope if it is already attached before setting up the radio. 

Caution

Always disconnect the battery from both the ESC (if equipped with a power switch) and the Muscle Winch™ when the vehicle is not in use. Failure to do so may damage the winch or battery through continuous power draw.

Never connect the Muscle Winch™ directly to a LiPo battery balance connector.

Damage resulting from improper wiring or failure to disconnect the battery is not covered under warranty.

Futaba 7PX/7PXR radio:
  • 1) Be sure to use the correct System Mode corresponding to the receiver according to the 7PXR user manual. [ Setup location: Home > Menu > Linkage > Receiver ]
  • 2) Turn off Channel 3 connection from the DT3 button. Turn on Channel 3 connection from the DT6 button on the radio which provides a three-position switch function. Then increase the DT6’s “Step” to 100. [ Setup location: Home > User Menu > Fifth page > Trim / Dial select ]
  • 3) Activate the Muscle Winch by pushing the DT6 button after the electronics are connected. The winch spool will start rotating and might judder. Adjust the Left and Right endpoints, in values 100 or above, to get rid of the juddering in both rotational directions. [ Setup location: Home > User Menu > First page > End point > Channel 3 ]

Fly Sky Noble NB-4 radio:
  • 1) Go into settings on the first page and select Assign.
  • 2) Select TR1-FB as a button for your winch control.
  • 3) On that screen for Type, select 3 POS, TR1-FB select CH3, and TR1-FB select REV.
  • 4) Once you are done with steps 1-3 go back to the main menu and select RX SET.
  • 5) Select Servo Frequency.
  • 6) Two options here, either select Analog or Digital servo. If selecting Analog, the setup is complete.
    If you want to use Digital, go on Custom set to 250Hz and the setup is complete.

Sanwa M12RS radio:
  • Set to modulation FH3E
  • Winch channel set to NOR
  • New Bind
