Introducing the Boom Racing BRX01 AWB Link 1/10 Adjustable Wheelbase Builder's Kit.

BRX01 AWB Link Chassis

The BRX01 AWB (Adjustable Wheelbase) Link chassis is the latest evolution of the proven BRX01 platform, built for enthusiasts who value scale realism, confident trail performance, and a future-proof vehicle platform. Featuring a realistic three-link suspension with panhard bar, the wheelbase adjusts from 265–285 mm (10.4–11.2 in), with optional components available to further adjust the wheelbase and axle widths for a wide range of scale builds.

Power is delivered through the robust BCF2™ two-speed transmission and a divorced B2X™ transfer case. The drivetrain is overdrive-ready with optional transfer case OD gears and is linked by a high-efficiency output shaft. This layout simplifies assembly, reduces drivetrain play, and delivers smoother, more efficient power transfer on the trail.

At the foundation are the proven BRX80 PHAT™ axles, now upgraded with a new C-hub and knuckle design using kingpins and brass bushings for improved durability and long-term precision. Inside, our proprietary AR44 heavy-duty hardened steel triangular-keyed, bevel helical-cut 30/8T differential gears are used front and rear, with reversed-cut gears in the rear axle. The counter-rotating rear axle effectively cancels torque twist, resulting in exceptional chassis stability under load.

Previously optional, the high-articulation panhard mount kit now comes standard. This setup allows the use of longer shocks to maximize articulation while significantly reducing lateral axle movement. The longer panhard rod also improves axle geometry, delivering more predictable handling and consistent performance across varied terrain.

Adjustable Wheelbase

The stock wheelbase range is 265–285mm (10.4–11.2"). The front section of the chassis, including the front links and suspension geometry, remains fixed and does not move.

Wheelbase adjustment is achieved at the rear of the chassis. The rear rails slide within an integrated guide, allowing precise and repeatable positioning. The rear upper links are mounted directly to the rear rails and move together with them, eliminating the need for replacement or reconfiguration.

Final fine-tuning is handled by the adjustable rear lower high-clearance stainless steel links, which provide up to 20mm of adjustment, ensuring proper axle positioning and driveline alignment across the full wheelbase range.

Need a different wheelbase? Optional XL and 2XL components allow you to extend the chassis to 285–305mm (11.2–12.0") or 305–325mm (12.0–12.8"), depending on your build.

There are two ways to achieve this. The right method depends on what you’re building.

  • Scale builds with a full hard body, bed, and rear bumper are best suited to the first approach.
  • Crawler-focused builds that benefit from shorter rails and improved departure angle may prefer the second approach.

First Approach: Rails + Drivetrain + Links (Recommended for Scale Builds)

This method requires three components. Select the parts that match your target wheelbase.
  • Rear chassis rails

  • Rear center CVD driveshaft
    • 280-300mm (11.0-11.8"): #BRKD003-107

Example:
To set a 313mm (12.3") wheelbase, use 2XL rear chassis rails (#BRLC70235), rear center CVD driveshaft (#BRKD003-119), and 2XL 82mm rear lower link spline shafts (#BRLC70229-2XL).

Second Approach: Links Only (Short Rails, Better Departure Angle)

This method extends the wheelbase while retaining the stock rails. A pair of custom rear upper links is required.

Heavy-Duty Shafts

The BADASS™ heavy-duty front and rear steel axle shafts and KUDU™ center CVD driveshafts are durable, smooth, and capable of high articulation angles. KUDU™ driveshafts are rebuildable and have become the standard drive shaft for all Boom Racing vehicles.

Suspension

Complete stainless steel links come standard on the BRX01 AWB Link chassis, adding strategically placed low-mounted weight to lower the center of gravity and enhance crawling performance. The rear lower links are fully adjustable and feature a built-in high-clearance design for improved obstacle clearance on the trail.

Suspension duties are handled by solid front and rear BRX80 PHAT™ straight axles, paired with high-performance KUDU™ coilover oil-filled scale shocks, measuring 70 mm up front and 80 mm at the rear.

Optimized for scale performance and long-term reliability, the KUDU™ coilover shocks feature billet aluminum cylinder bodies for strength, hardened steel shock shafts with titanium nitride coating, and aluminum spring adjusters that allow unlimited preload tuning. Replaceable plastic pivot retainers provide smooth, low-friction articulation, while BADASS™ stainless steel pivot balls resist corrosion and enable high-angle movement for massive articulation.

Double X-ring oil seals, along with dedicated cylinder and friction seals, prevent leaks and keep contaminants out. Integrated bump stops add control at full compression, and an included aluminum pivot ball tool makes maintenance quick and hassle-free.

Optional shock springs are available.

Optional SWD (2/4WD) / DIG / Overdrive

Want selectable 2WD/4WD, DIG, and overdrive capability? Replace the standard B2X™ transfer case with the optional DIG or SWD (2WD/4WD) transfer case. Both options require an additional mini servo (same size as the kit-included servo) and the optional Mini Servo Mounts (BRLC70223L and BRLC70223A).

The B2X™ and both optional transfer cases are overdrive-ready. Overdrive functionality is enabled using the optional OD Gear Set (BRLC70201-GEAR).

With the OD gear set installed, the front wheels rotate 32% faster than the rear, while the rear axle gains a 42% gear reduction compared to standard transfer case gearing. The result is improved climbing ability, smoother power delivery, and reduced drivetrain load under demanding trail conditions.

Overdrive can also be enabled using our optional HD Keyed Bevel Helical Overdrive Gear + Differential Locker Set:
  • 24/8T (BR955040) approx 20%
  • 27/8T (BR955029) approx 10%

If you enjoy trail driving, the SWD transfer case with selectable 2WD/4WD and overdrive gearing gives you maximum flexibility. Run 2WD in high gear on flat terrain, switch to 4WD when extra traction is needed, then gear down for maximum torque when conditions get demanding.

Optional Servo Winch


The chassis is ready for a standard-size internal servo winch (with internal spool) by installing the optional Servo Winch Mount Kit for BRX01 AWB & BRX01 (#BRLC70227).

Mini Servo Included

A JX waterproof 8.4V metal gear mini servo for remote 2-speed shifting is included. Limited warranty is included (free of factory defect).

Wheels and Tires

Included are 1.55" MAXGRAPPLER™ Gekko (Black) Compound tires, single-stage foam inserts, and 1.55" classic steelies beadlock wheels that are reversible for versatility.

ZIL Pickup Hard Body (optional)

The ZIL Pickup hard body is a fully molded two-piece design, available as a complete body with a 267 mm wheelbase, engineered to bolt directly onto the BRX01 AWB chassis. Inspired by classic 1950s–60s pickup trucks, it features a highly detailed interior, functional doors, hood, and tailgate, a realistic radiator and engine bay, and a separate full drop bed with a built-in battery storage compartment.

The body includes ten LED light buckets and lenses, ready for the optional KUDU light kit (BRTLB007), and comes complete with scale side steps for an authentic finish.

Waterproof

Is this kit waterproof? The short answer is yes! The BRX01 AWB is capable of being submerged in water. The receiver box is designed to be fully waterproof with rubber seals all around to protect your receiver from water. We've included a fully waterproof JX high-voltage mini shift servo for the BCF2™ 2-speed transmission. The axle gears are fully greased, with extra silicone and black graphite grease provided for maintenance and protection against water corrosion. Add your own waterproof electronics to make it fully waterproof.
