Builder of the Month: RCradek (March 2026)

Meet RCradek, our Boom Racing Builder of the Month from Poland! A longtime RC enthusiast, Radek’s known for his bright, detailed builds and love for scale realism. What started with FPV drones has grown into a full passion for off-road vehicles. Let’s get to know him and see what drives his creativity and dedication to the hobby!

Boom Racing:
First off, it’s a real pleasure to welcome you to our Boom Racing BOTM community! To start things off, can you tell us a bit about yourself?

RCradek:
My name is Radek, but I go by RCradek on social media. I live in Poland and I'm a huge RC enthusiast. A few years ago, I fell in love with the Boom Racing model cars. I already have quite a collection, and I'm sure there will be more...

Boom Racing:
Tell us how your RC journey began. When did you first pick up your RC rig, and what sparked that decision? Did you see a build that blew you away, or attend an event where the rigs looked almost real?

RCradek:
My RC adventure began about 15 years ago with building and flying FPV drones. This lasted three years. My true love is off-road vehicles, so I quickly switched from drones to RC cars. My friend Blazej (RC Nennox, who organizes the best RC events in Poland) introduced me to this hobby. My first RC car, which I still have, was an Axial SCX10 II Jeep Cherokee. Now, a BRX02 Land Rover Series II 88 Station Wagon is my favorite.

Boom Racing:
Could you explain what the RC and Scale RC scenes are like in Poland?

RCradek:
Recently, we've been seeing more and more scale models in Poland. I think people are bored with the Lexan bodies from Axial and Traxxas and want something more. They want models that look realistic. Scale and Super Scale categories are already appearing at events and competitions. Beautiful RC cars from Poland are appearing on the international scene, including those from my friend Marcin Skrzypek (January 2026 Builder of the Month). RC Boom Racing models, which were little known in Poland just a few years ago, are appearing more and more frequently, and I have to admit, people are fascinated by them. In September, OFFmania RC, one of the largest RC events in Europe, will take place in Poland. I can't wait because we'll definitely see some amazing scale RC cars there.

Boom Racing:
What are some of your favorite places in Poland to run your rig?

RCradek:
Truth be told, I haven't driven much in recent years. Building RC cars has become my passion, and that's what I focus on. A large group of RC enthusiasts meets up in my area every weekend. While we don't have a professional track, there are so many great places to go that we don't have to look far.

Boom Racing:
What was your first Boom Racing rig? And why did you choose that model in the range? Did you learn a lot from that first build?

RCradek:
My adventure with Boom Racing began two years ago when I met Maxee RC from Germany. He showed me the beautiful cars Boom Racing makes. I was most interested in learning about their construction, as I'd heard about their quality before. I chose the largest and most advanced car, the BRX02 6x6 D110 Pickup. When I opened the box, my hands were shaking and my heart was beating faster. I knew this was the beginning of a wonderful adventure. Having never used Boom Racing products before, everything was new to me. The advanced technology and solutions used made assembling this rig a pure pleasure.

Boom Racing:
Can you tell us about your other Boom Racing builds? What was the inspiration behind each rig?

RCradek:
After assembling the BRX02 6x6, it was time for the Series II and Series III. Both are version 88. I've seen many beautiful, often weathered, models in the Boom Racing community, but I decided to make mine stand out. I built both in a modern style and bright yellow and orange. Naturally, they received most of the extras available in the Boom Racing store. In my opinion, it's the details and scale additions that give a car its individual character and look. Next, I built a Toyota LC70 and a Mercedes G-Class on the BRX01 chassis. It has great potential, and I plan to use it in several future projects.

Boom Racing:
How do you feel Boom Racing distinguishes itself from others in the industry?

RCradek:
It's a very simple question, and the answer is quality, beautiful hardbodies, and, equally important to me, after-sales service and technical support. For this, I respect Boom Racing and believe that no company in the world can beat Boom Racing.

Boom Racing:
Your RC Car Servicing is a very interesting sideline. Why do you do it and what’s the reaction of the owners when they get their rigs back?

RCradek:
For me, servicing RC cars gives me the opportunity to explore something other than the cars I have in my collection. It's fun and educational at the same time. For some time now, I've been restoring old RC cars. It's much more challenging than building new ones. I often have to search for replacement parts all over the world. I often have to design and 3D print missing parts. Owners are usually shocked that their cars look brand new. It's very motivating for me to hear, "WOW! Great job!"

Boom Racing:
In your opinion, which five essentials should beginners in the hobby buy first, and what makes each one important?

RCradek:
1. A car that you like, regardless of what others think.
2. If you enjoy tinkering, buy the kit version, not the RTR version. You'll learn the structure of an RC car and how it works.
3. A good battery charger and branded batteries. This will ensure long and safe battery life.
4. Tools that will allow you to service your RC car. If you often take your car apart, be sure to buy a Screw Measuring Tool. You won't believe how useful this little thing is.
5. Definitely buy a service mat. A hole in the table or a grease stain is a bad idea.

Finally, I have one more important piece of advice, because I was once a beginner myself... First, meet people, go to an event, and see what it looks like in real life. Because it's not always like the pictures online.

Boom Racing:
What are your top tips for painting and weathering, and how do you get those realistic finishes on your builds?

RCradek:
In my opinion, the most important thing when painting is to carefully consider what you want to achieve. Another crucial thing is not to rush. It's better to take twice as long than regret later that you didn't do something better and more thoroughly. When it comes to weathering, I personally believe that less is more. Remember that over time and with off-road driving, a car will take on a used look.

Boom Racing:
Looking back on your time in the hobby, what are you most proud of achieving, and what has been your toughest setback—and what did you learn from that experience?

RCradek:
I'm currently very proud to have been selected as Boom Racing Builder of the Month. It's a great honor and motivation for me to continue working and building more Boom Racing cars. Looking back on previous years, I'm proud that my cars twice won the Ride of the Month award from Radio Control Car Action, one of the leading RC magazines in the US. My cars have also been featured on the social media platforms of manufacturers such as RC4WD, Pro-Line Racing, and Killerbody. And although I don't do it for the fame—it's my passion—I'm very happy with such achievements. Since I don't compete, race, or do anything for fame, when something doesn't work out, I don't consider it a failure; I learn from it for the future.
